چکیده

We study Modified Gravity (MG) theories by modelling the redshifted matter power spectrum in a spherical Fourier–Bessel basis. We use a fully non-linear description of the real-space matter power spectrum and include the lowest order redshift-space correction (Kaiser effect), taking into account some additional non-linear contributions. Ignoring relativistic corrections, which are not expected to play an important role for a shallow survey, we analyse two different MG scenarios, namely the generalized Dilaton scalar–tensor theories and the f (R) models in the large curvature regime. We compute the 3D power spectrum Csl(k1, k2) for various such MG theories with and without redshift-space distortions, assuming precise knowledge of background cosmological parameters. Using an all-sky spectroscopic survey with Gaussian selection function φ(r) ∝ exp(−r/r 0 ), r0 = 150h−1 Mpc, and number density of galaxies N̄ = 10−4 Mpc−3, we use a χ analysis, and find that the lower order (l ≤ 25) multipoles of C s l(k, k ′) (with radial modes restricted to k < 0.2 hMpc−1) can constraint the parameter fR0 at a level of 2 × 10−5(3 × 10−5) with 3σ confidence for n = 1(2). Combining constraints from higher l > 25 modes can further reduce the error bars and thus in principle make cosmological gravity constraints competitive with Solar system tests. However this will require an accurate modelling of non-linear redshift-space distortions. Using a tomographic β(a)– m(a) parametrization we also derive constraints on specific parameters describing the Dilaton models of MG.

Relativistic effects in galaxy clustering in a parametrized post - Friedmann universe

We explore the signatures of quintessence and modified gravity theories in the relativistic description of galaxy clustering within a parametrized post-Friedmann framework. For this purpose, we develop a calibration method to consistently account for horizon-scale effects in the linear parametrized post-Friedmann perturbations of minimally and nonminimally coupled scalar-tensor theories and tes...

Observational Tests of Modified Gravity

Modifications of general relativity provide an alternative explanation to dark energy for the observed acceleration of the Universe. Modified gravity theories have richer observational consequences for large scale structures than conventional dark energy models, in that different observables are not described by a single growth factor even in the linear regime. We examine the relationships betw...

N-body simulations of DGP and degravitation theories

We perform N-body simulations of theories with infinite-volume extra dimensions, such as the DvaliGabadadze-Porrati model and its higher-dimensional generalizations, where 4D gravity is mediated by massive gravitons. The longitudinal mode of these gravitons mediates an extra scalar force, which we model as a density-dependent modification to the Poisson equation. This enhances gravitational clu...

One gravitational potential or two? Forecasts and tests.

The metric of a perturbed Robertson-Walker space-time is characterized by three functions: a scale-factor giving the expansion history and two potentials that generalize the single potential of Newtonian gravity. The Newtonian potential induces peculiar velocities and, from these, the growth of matter fluctuations. Massless particles respond equally to the Newtonian potential and to a curvature...

Local stability criterion for self-gravitating disks in modified gravity

We study local stability of self-gravitating fluid and stellar disk in the context of modified gravity theories which predict a Yukawa-like term in the gravitational potential of a point mass. We investigate the effect of such a Yukawa-like term on the dynamics of self-gravitating disks. More specifically, we investigate the consequences of the presence of this term for the local stability of t...
